We left for Alaska with two, now we are coming home with three!

A story of our trip home and what happens after that.

It has been a really long time since I updated anything. We have been staying between Nick's parents' house and my parents' house. Nick has been on his new job for almost two weeks, and he is swamped with work. We are very thankful for him to find a job! Here are a few pictures taken over the past few weeks. Of course a few of Adeline, but I threw in a couple of others from my folks' house. The fig tree in their back yard, the garden, greenhouse and Adeline's pool, and some diapers sunning on the back porch.I also threw in a couple of mom's orchids in bloom.

Thank you Sammie's Smokehouse BBQ! I have missed good BBQ and sweet tea.
We made it to Shreveport Louisiana just now. I am hoping to make Meridian Mississippi tonight and Canton tomorrow. Almost done with the longest road trip ever!

We stayed in Amarillo last night after a day of diving through New Mexico. We had camped at Chaco Canyon Tuesday night and it was really cool. It had just rained so the temperature was nice. We got up early to check out Pueblo Bonito, a Chacoan great house, and drove by a few of the other ruins. The Chaco culture was fascinating! The pictures are of Adeline in the tent and Nick and Adeline at the camp site. All in all, a great side trip. We will be in the Dallas area to visit Nick's aunt and uncle tonight and tomorrow and then on to Georgia on Saturday!

Well, we are spending our last night in Montrose, Colorado with Nick's family. This visit has been awesome! It has been a rest oasis in the middle of a car traveling desert. Adeline has really enjoyed herself and getting to know her family. We will be sad to pull out tomorrow but we gotta keep moving south. These are just a few pictures from the road. Most of the pictures I took are not with my phone. I will wait until we get home to post a more in depth pictorial of the trip!

So we are in Tok, Alaska and are headed for Canada. Horrible thunder, lightning and rain last night. Everything we own is soaked and spirits are down. These are what are day looked like yesterday and also one of A this morning. It's a yucky, cold start to our day but we will be stopping when the weather looks better to regroup and dry out.

I haven't posted in quite some time. I have been keeping pretty busy with taking care of Adeline, packing, and saying goodbye to friends. We only have ten days left, the real countdown is on! Our goal is to be packed up completely by Saturday. My Jeep ships on Monday the 27th. It's all getting really real now. Mixed emotions for sure. Oh, I almost forgot to say a little about the actual pictures. A has taken to eating my face while I am trying to burp her. That's the top pic. The second one is her new sun hat. She actually needed one the other day! The third one is my friend Brock at the solstice festival this past weekend. She got to put on the Big Wild Life moose head. Last, the view yesterday morning as A crawled all over me, finally ending up sliming my face. Enough stalling, back to packing!

Not too much going on lately that is newsworthy, just rain and cold and packing. I just thought I would post a few recents of A.

It was yard sale day 1 today. Nick got to enjoy some good weather (and a little rain) for all his hard work. Adeline spent a little time outside. She also had a great nap today. Two and a half hours. Maybe this is a sign of things to come?

I almost forgot to put in some obligatory Adeline pictures. I have been yardsaling this weekend (selling, not buying) and she came along. The first one is her tummy time inside after the yard sale was over yesterday. The middle one is her in her warm track suit this morning. It was a little chilly. The last one is her when we got home. She finally fits perfectly into her sock monkey outfit, and I love it!

Well, I will be blogging mostly from my phone because ........ SCHOOL IS OUT!!!! Yep, no more pencils, no more books, no more students' dirty looks. It is summer! This also means saying goodbye to the best ladies anyone could work with, ever. They gave me a great send off. They all had on these UGA shirts under jackets and unveiled them at my goodbye. They even had one for me! Who else would do that? I feel that they will be taken care of, because the guy taking my place is also from Georgia and had on a UGA shirt, totally unplanned. Yep, they will be fine.

Almost done with school!

I was working in my room this morning, cleaning it out and all, and I looked out to find a moose on the soccer field this morning. He walked down the bleachers and just trotted out and into the bushes. How cool.

Lake Weekend

We had the great pleasure of going to my friend Theresa's lake villa this weekend. We went up and stayed Friday night. It was mom, Adeline and myself. There were eight ladies there and it was a GREAT time! The above picture is Adeline in our room. You can tell that she slept like a champ in our super comfy bed!

This is mom and Theresa as we walked down to see her cabin on the lake. Her property is just beautiful, and yes, the lake is frozen over.
Theresa, myself and Leslie. I will surely miss these ladies. They have made Alaska my home!

A few shots from Mother's Day weekend. We gave A a bath and towel dried her hair and then went to Spenard Roadhouse to eat. Fantastic day. The middle pic is an action shot at the restaurant, and the last one is how her hair looks on a daily basis. She just has cowlicks everywhere!

More Alaska things to miss

The view from my room. In the distance, you can see Sleeping Lady. AKA Mt. Susitna. Of course, the foreground is the school soccer field.
Here is a little more. This is the Alaska Range, again, behind the soccer field.
This last view is my team of teachers. We all dressed like the wonderful woman in the middle, Pam Collins. She is a great teacher who is retiring and it is also her birthday. I will miss these ladies very much when we leave.

One Alaska thing to miss

If you look really closely, you can see a black bear. This is what I saw on my way to school this morning. He had found a way into the "bear proof" garbage can. You don't really see this that often in Georgia! Unpredictable wildlife, one thing to miss when I leave.
